When the Wanted were recruited to perform for mtvU's Spring Break festivities in Las Vegas, they didn't realize all the distractions that would surround them when they stormed the stage at the Palms Casino Resort.
It wasn't the slot machines or the blackjack tables that had these five 20-somethings so distracted — it was the scantily clad young ladies. About the eye candy, the swagger-fied Max George explained, "You'll just have to look around for 2 seconds."
It wasn't just George who couldn't keep his eyes off the female coeds who descended on the pool at the famed hotel. Jay McGuiness added, "They are a crucial aspect of it."
When they weren't scoping out ladies, the cheeky fivesome was also plotting out their performance, looking to the Vegas setting for inspiration. "We're gonna try and get involved in a way that we don't get to in the U.K. 'cause it's freezing cold," McGuiness explained. "I think here we're just gonna literally get involved with the crowd."
How involved? "I think we might just jump in the pool," Siva Kaneswaran added.
"Can't wait!" Tom Parker chimed in. "We just did a sound check before, and everything's sounding pretty good for a change. MTV has really gone out here. 'Glad You Came' by the Wanted: great song."
Want to see what the guys ended up doing? Check out their performance when it airs Tuesday night (April 3) at 9:50 p.m. ET/PT. Dev, Big Sean, B.o.B and Young Jeezy were also tapped to perform during MTV's sunny Spring Break performances last month. They are airing this week on MTV.
Next up, the guys will release their self-titled debut album in the U.S. on April 24. They are looking to the Spring Break-approved "Glad You Came" for inspiration.
"We did a ballad, and it wasn't that great, if I'm honest with you," Parker said. "We've got a new one called 'Chasing the Sun,' which is gonna go out to radio soon, so look out for it. It's in the same vein as 'Glad You Came'; it's upbeat."
