Cause Marketing is the New Norm ? My Business Life ? A Blog ...

More and more companies are learning to display social responsibility while also creating positive community relationships.

by Lori Johnson

As reputation management and social responsibility have become exponentially more important to consumers? business decisions, a strategy for ?cause-marketing? is needed. The best way for businesses to address this is to become involved with a charity that will benefit their organization and offer a worthy cause to stand behind!

Reed Mattingly, owner of Rainbow International? of Columbia, SC, decided to make a difference in his local community. The Fourth Annual Spring Cleaning, benefitting Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) of Columbia, was held on March 9, 2012. Rainbow International was one of several local businesses that came together to clean, repair and perform maintenance on a 29-year-old house.

The Spring Cleaning event raises funds and awareness for RMHC through the help of the media. Some of the business-minded benefits include: Mattingly was interviewed by one of the three local TV stations present at the event, able to make great connections with the local businesses and executives attending and was able to support his local community. The charity did a great job of garnering media attention for the affair and all parties received great stories and content for social media. Embracing a cause makes good business sense. Nothing builds brand loyalty among today?s increasingly hard-to-please consumers like a company?s proven commitment to a worthy cause. From the charity?s perspective, nothing could be better than having businesses support and promote their mission. Press for companies? charitable endeavors means vital press for the charity as well.

The Dwyer Group? and its seven home-service brands are proud corporate sponsors of RMHC. To learn more about our cause-marketing initiatives and how they contribute to franchise success, contact a franchise development representative.
