Painter Glenn Garver?s work explores colors, movements, materials
Born to two singers and raised alongside an artist and an actress, it?s no surprise that art is ingrained in Glenn Garver?s being.
The Jersey City painter studied at the School of Visual Arts after spending his childhood scribbling on whatever he could.
?I grew up in an artistic family and as a kid I was always drawing,? said the 50-year-old, who added that painting is his true passion. ?It just feels like the most natural thing. I?m content when I?m painting; it just feels right?.?

Not-Yo-Mama?s Craft Fair Organizers discuss big plans
After over three years of promoting crafters and vendors, Michelle Mumoli and Megan Gulick ? the minds behind Not Yo Mama?s Fair Organizers ? say their company has ?grown exponentially.?
On Saturday, NYM kicked off their Parks and Crafts series, which will tour local parks. They will also have vendors at the Everything Jersey City Festival next week, a Trunk Show at the W Hoboken on the 24th, their annual Blowout Bash in June and more.
?This is our kind of full-time job now,? said Mumoli. ?We?re really good at putting these events together and it takes the burden off someone putting an event together that isn?t as good at getting vendors?.?

?Rhythm and Movement? at Lana Santorelli Gallery in Hoboken
The Lana Santorelli Gallery?s upcoming exhibit, ?Rhythm and Movement,? features artwork inspired by music and dance, forming what Director Bess Sobota called an ?art trifecta.?
?Artists sometimes blur the boundaries between the three art forms, even creating installations with music and visual art,? she said. ?Here, we?re using it as inspiration.?
Some of the artwork literally features music and dance. For example, in Rassan Cobbs?s imaginative, whimsical works, a ballerina is shadowed by a dancing skeleton and an astronaut plays piano in space?.
?Rhythm and Movement? is on display at the Lana Santorelli Gallery, 628 Washington St., Hoboken. The show runs through June 24. For more information, visit LanaSantorelliGallery.com.

Ten bands unite to help struggling cemetery
Ten local music acts banded together at the Pushing Up the Daisies Festival benefiting the Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery at 435 Newark Ave., Jersey City.
Host and organizer Tony Susco ? better known as ?Dancing Tony? ? said he hoped the event would help the cemetery stay alive.
In April, cemetery officials announced that money was so tight that they weren?t able to pay an electricity bill. Unable to sell new plots or even touch a $50,000 grant from the Hudson County Open Space Trust Fund until it is matched, the cemetery relies on donations to survive?.
