Sony?s Michael Denny says the timing was right for an announcement, says ?Why not?? to announcing before Microsoft

February 21st, 2013 Posted in General Sony, News, PS4 Posted By: Austin

February 20th should not have been a special day in the gaming world. After all, it wasn?t E3, it wasn?t the sadly-defunct Spaceworld, it wasn?t CES, PAX East, TGS, or any other big event? Sony just picked it because that was the day they felt like announcing the new Playstation, and it appears to have paid off for them. But should they have announced before Microsoft? Sony?s Michael Denny says ?Why not??

?We just felt the timing?s right in that the current generation, we?re 6 or 7 years or so in now, there?s been speculation it?s coming. As for going first, why not? We?re proud of what we?ve got, we?re proud of the system we?ve got. It?s always going to be about the content and we feel we?ve got that coming in droves.?

- Sony Worldwide Studios? Vice President Michael Denny

I think most fans of the PS3 absolutely agree: Sony brought out a ton of content for them last night, and there was no reason for them to wait. After all, Nintendo has gotten into the habit of releasing news whenever they feel like it as opposed to waiting for big events, and it has worked out wonderfully for them.
