Focus on the Family Community: Relationships and Marriage ...

My husband and I have been married for 3 years.? He is a very successful chef, but for the last six months has been eagerly searching for a job outside of the kitchen.? He cannot stand his boss and I think that has driven him away from the kitchen.? Needless to say, I am grateful that he wanted out of the ktichen...it is a very ugly environment and I believe God putt hat desire to leave in his heart as an answer to my prayers.

Well the perfect job hasn't opened up for him and season in the restaurant biz starts up in a few months....his mom and sister have worked up a wonderful plan for him to start a cafe in an up and coming, business hungry area.? it is about an hour away from us and I will be commuting to my current job, we would have to move in with his parents, we don't have startup money and the list goes on and on.? While I admit, that they have a good idea, I feel they are taking this a bit far- but only as far as my husband is letting them.

I want to put my honest two cents in and tell him no way.? We were plannign on starting a family and building a house, etc in the next few years...not starting a business and essentially selling our souls to it (thats what I've heard it is the equivalent to).? I am so distressed.? I want to tell him I don't support him but am to insecure that he will resent me down the road, if a better career doesn't work out.? Any advice on what I should do?? Been praying about it for a week now (when it all started).? Im praying it shuts itself down (financing no-go) but if it doesn't, I really am not up for this major lifestyle change.
