Last week two tornadoes were reported in western Suffolk County: one in the Oakdale-Bohemia area and the other in Ronkonkoma near Ocean Avenue. Now an amateur video has surfaced on YouTube by a user who goes by the handle "bkviking," that captures the sudden impact of the wind caused by the nearby twister.
According to the user, the video was taken near 5th Avenue and Veteran's Highway where the user works. At first it appears to be just a normal rain storm, but about 40 seconds in the video captures the trees bending and the puddles swirling to almost tropical storm-like winds.
The tornado was categorized an EF-O, the lowest classification, according to this weather blog.
